Faux leather, or PVC (polyvinyl chloride) leather, is an artificial leather made of a flexible plastic resin. Faux leather is used for making a wide range of products from shoes and handbags to trays and car interiors. Faux leather is water resistant, and due to its non-porous nature, does not get stained easily unlike real leather, and can be easily be cleaned. Faux leather has the lowest cost out of our materials but has a very luxe look and feel, making it our most popular material. 100% PVC leather is completely artificial and is considered vegan meaning it does not have any animal products in its makeup. We are working on introducing plant leather to our offerings.
Our faux leather alternatives include genuine leather, felt, and cotton canvas. Genuine leather is a strong, flexible, and durable material obtained from the tanning or chemical treatment of animal skins/hides to prevent decay. Genuine leather has greater abrasion resistance but is not as stain resistant as faux leather. Felt is a non-woven cloth that is produced by matting, condensing, and pressing fibers together. Our felt is synthetic. It can be made from organic materials such as cotton, wool, or synthetic fibers like acrylic, or a blend of the two. It is fire retardant and water absorbent. Canvas is made of natural cotton, and has a diagonal weave texture that is visible and can be felt in the hand. It is sturdy, durable, and heavy duty. Canvas can be easily dyed. Due to its fibers, it is not as stain resistant as faux leather.
Cleaning
For regular cleaning, wipe faux leather surfaces with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water.
Lead Times
For samples, a change of finish from our selection is 2 weeks, a new finish is 3 weeks, and a new design would be 4 weeks.
Durability
PVC leather is anti-abrasion and can anti-rub 100,000 times. PVC leather is also high in endurance, resisting cracking due to the flexible plastic resin.
Customization
Faux leather products can be customized with embossing, digital printing, embroidery, and more.
Our faux leather can also have the following treatments:
Textures
- Crosshatch, which is a pattern made of parallel and perpendicular lines. Texture is achieved though embossing and is commonly known as Saffiano leather in luxury goods.
- Croc. which is embossed to mimic crocodile skin, and has a large variation of raised areas to mimic a natural scale pattern.
- Flat Grain, which has small veining to create a slightly raised texture.
- Shagreen, which is naturally occurring on stingrays and has small, round, raised bumps that mimic small scales.
- Distressed, which has a smooth, plain texture with a marble effect in color to mimic a worn-in look that is common in genuine leather.
No design statement is too bold and no detail too intricate for our designers and craftspeople. Customize any of our faux leather products and wow your guests.
