14/4 stainless steel (which is food-safe) is used in most of our SS items. It has a 1% nickel content, is extremely high strength and will not rust. We use 18/8 stainless steel for items that encounter more water. This includes the inner wall of our ice buckets and wall mounted soap pumps. 18/8 SS contains 8% nickel, is also extremely high strength, rust-resistant, and food-safe, while also having a higher chromium content that makesd it best suited for water.
Our SS alternatives include brass, aluminum, and iron. Brass is easily manipulated and better for designs that need to be casted. Aluminum is mainly used for casted items, and is used a lot in tabletop and décor items. Iron is the cheapest of all our options, and powder coats prevent the iron from rusting by creating a protective barrier between the iron and the elements.
Cleaning
For regular cleaning, wipe metal surfaces with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water.
Lead Times
For samples, a change of finish from our selection is 2 weeks, a new finish is 4 weeks, and a new design would be 6 weeks.
Durability
The stainless steel used in our products are extremely high strength and will not rust.
Customization
Metal products can be customized with blind color debossing, laser etching, piercing, and more.
Our stainless steel can have the following treatments:
1. Fingerprint-Resistant Coating
- The coating is a clear lacquer that makes the fingerprints less likely to stick to the finish
- Items with shiny and matte finish can receive a fingerprint resistant coating upon request
- Has same warranty period as product itself
2. Clear Enamel Coating
- A clear enamel coating that helps protect the finish from not eroding with use of soap
- Not needed on matte or shiny, but will come standard on all other SS finishes
- Has a smooth and shiny finish
- Holds color well and resists yellowing
- Lasts 2 years
3. Textures
- Standard (Martele) hammering, which is achieved by hand hammering with different tools – the hammer can vary in width creating smaller or larger bumps
- Ripple hammering, which is achieved by hand hammering with different tools – the same process as standard hammering but with a different shaped tool head
- Mills/Clark, which is achieved by manual etching
We are immensely proud to use sustainable and recycled materials whenever possible. It is our goal to source products that enhance the handicraft industry in India and to reduce our carbon footprint in the process.
Recycled Steel
- Globally, around 630 million tons of steel scrap is recycled annually, which translates to an annual CO2 emissions reduction of around 950M tons.
- Steel recycling is a “closed loop production”; a material eco-system where no materials are wasted and instead re-used over and over again.
No design statement is too bold and no detail too intricate for our designers and craftspeople. Customize any of our metal products and wow your guests.
