The Designer’s Guide to Custom OS&E

Your design doesn’t have to stop at what’s in the catalog. Explore the materials, finishes, and custom capabilities that can transform an existing product or create something entirely new. Our Designer’s Guide to Custom OS&E brings together inspiration and practical guidance to help move your ideas from concept to production.

Case Study:Hay Adams

Scope: Develop a fully custom coffee box for The Hay-Adams, translating the hotel’s signature toile pattern into a functional guestroom piece. The project included custom sizing, interior organization, faux leather construction and printed artwork designed to coordinate with the property’s existing interiors.

Timeline: ~ 6 Months

Outcome: A distinctive in-room coffee presentation that feels intentionally connected to The Hay-Adams. The finished box brings the property’s recognizable pattern into the guest experience while keeping coffee and tea essentials neatly contained in one cohesive, branded piece.

Product Purchased: Custom faux leather coffee box with digitally printed toile pattern for 145 rooms.

Case Study:Park Lane

Scope: Collaborate with Yabu Pushelberg on custom bath accessories for the Park Lane Hotel’s two-year redesign, developing a jeweled cotton ball holder and coordinating soap dish in a custom aubergine color inspired by the property’s new interiors and storied past.

Timeline: ~ 6 Months

Outcome: A completely custom bath collection that transformed the design team’s concept into a functional guestroom detail. The rich color, faceted forms and jewel-like finish bring personality to the bath while tying directly into the hotel’s distinctive new design language.

Product Purchased: Custom cotton ball holder for the 610 room property.

FAQ

Your Questions, Answered

  • WHAT CAN BE CUSTOMIZED?

Almost every detail. Depending on the product, we can customize materials, colors, finishes, dimensions, shapes, hardware and functional details, as well as add logos, artwork, embroidery, printing or other branding. Choose from our existing collection as a starting point or work with us to create something entirely new.

  • CAN YOU MATCH A SPECIFIC COLOR OR FINISH?

Yes. We can develop custom colors and finishes to coordinate with your project, including Pantone, RAL and paint color matching. We can also work from physical samples or reference materials when a more specific match is needed. Custom finish samples are available for approval before production.

  • WHAT ARE YOUR CUSTOM MINIMUMS?

Minimums vary by product, material and manufacturing process. As a general guide, custom metal, leather and wood products typically begin at 48 pieces, resin at 96 pieces, and soft goods vary by material, with faux leather typically starting around 50 pieces and other fabrics around 200 pieces. Contact our team with your project details and we’ll confirm the minimum for your product.

  • CAN YOU DEVELOP A PRODUCT FROM OUR DESIGN?

Yes. Fully custom product development is a core part of what we do. Share your drawing, reference image, dimensions, material direction or concept, and our team can work with you to develop it into a production-ready hospitality product. We’ll help work through materials, construction, finishes, sampling and production while staying true to the original design intent.
